And, for this year's card, we presented the following on bright green or orange paper:
Welcome back, my friends, to the twisted little sideshow that never, ever, ends! That’s right! The Carnival of Souls has rolled back into town, featuring one inexplicable oddity, known only as Spiney, and that band of Backbones who remain on tour forevermore.
Legend states this frightful festival is doomed to ride the old railways which used to run nearby, haunting the same towns that rode them out on a rail well over 100 years ago, and always on the hunt for more souls to join them — especially on Halloween night!
Since it appears you’ve wisely escaped the lure of the sideshow, we’d like to take this opportunity to invite you into a far more wonderful forever, and an eternity that only the kindness of our Creator could make available to us. Left to our own devices, we’re prone to wander too, often tempted into whatever carnival-style distraction rolls our way. Yet, while we might ignore the good things God offers for things that might seem more thrilling, at least for a while, He was willing to go out of His way to welcome us back again.
We see all this in the story of Jesus, who showed us the character of our Creator by living without ever being drawn into the distractions of this world. Everything He did was not to lure us, but to love us. He knew our only prize for wandering away from God is a fate far worse than even we could dream up, so Jesus took on death and overcame it by returning to life again. Now, for anyone who believes He did all this and trusts Him, the free gift of eternal life awaits. That’s the prize Jesus won and gives to us — life with Him forever.
Since there’s eternally more to know about Jesus, hallowsgarage.blogspot.com might be your next stop to explore the Big Story, Bible links and videos to help get you started.
So, if you hear a distant train whistle late one night, perhaps you’ll recall the strange tale of the Carnival of Souls. But, more importantly, we hope you’ll remember the true story of trust over temptation and Jesus welcoming his friends to a life that never ends!
We hope you enjoyed the Rock ‘n’ Roll Sideshow, and Happy Halloween!
